Something wicked brews in Riverdale as an act of resistance pushes the Serpents to the edge. As Jughead fights for truth, Archie and Betty sink further into their darkness.
The beheading of General Pickens’ statue places Jughead and the Serpents in authroties’ crosshairs. Soon Jug finds himself suspended from the “Blue & Gold,” and facing eviction from home and the Serpents. His saving grace is finding the statue head, proving the Serpents innocence. He enlists Betty’s help.
Betty jumps to rekindle with an old friend. Besides she’s having familial issues of her own. With Chic’s guidance Betty dives into the twisted world of web sex work. Donning her Dark Betty wig, she’s an actual pro. In addition to her secret activity, father Hal has left the home. He refuses to share his family with this stranger.
The two investigate the mysterious case of the statue to uncover the culprit. None other than Tall Boy. Fed up with FP’s weak leadership and Jughead’s antics, he was paid by Hiram Lodge to dismember the memorial. All a part of Lodge’s plan for disarray.
Which brings us to Archie and his apprenticeship. Veronica’s confirmation acts as a guise for a Lodge family gathering. Friends, family and foes will congregate in Riverdale to talk business. According to Archie’s FBI friend, this business is the mafia. Archie is tasked to spy on the operations, but he detours.
When Hiram invites Archie to his private poker game, he tests Archie’s bravado and loyalty. The tactic proves worthy as Archie informs Hiram of a coup. Although Archie’s loyalty costs a man’s life and difficulty as a narc. It will also brew issues with Veronica, as she’s having second thoughts on him becoming part of the family.
The Lodges aren’t the only family with blood on their hands. Betty returns home after reconciling with Jughead to find a visitor in the Cooper household. He’s a friend of Chic’s who obviously overstayed his welcome. Betty finds Alice and Chic cleaning his blood from the dining room floor.
