New Trailer Round-Up (2017)

Welcome, FanBros. Today we are getting waves of trailers for video games and movies rolling in for 2017. Let’s take a look at what just dropped:

I hope you like your mutants somber and in retirement because this a very hard left from the tone we just experienced in this past summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, which was probably necessary. We’re getting hints of the acclaimed Old Man Logan storyline (Marvel contracts would never allow Fox a direct adaptation), as well as elements of a The Last Of Us-like road trip. From someone who isn’t a fan of the character, I’m looking forward to this and hoping for a lot from Hugh Jackman’s last performance as this character.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar has just dropped a teaser to their long anticipated sequel today. Not many story details or overall mechanics were announced but we do have a beautiful look at the environments in this trailer. One thing we did learn is that the PS4 version will have exclusive “select online content” when released. Expect RDR2 to drop next year  – but who wants to place their first bets on delays?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

This has been my favorite trailer today and it looks absolutely gorgeous. Two of my ten favorite films are from Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli and this looks  in tone and mood with that style. Little is known of its story, other characters or which of the many timelines it will take place in, but there will be survival elements where your character will need to catch food, sleep and use other skills for daily survival. Expect it in 2017 for the Wii-U and Switch.

Nintendo Switch

And the highest profile trailer today (which we will be covering more thoroughly here on the site) is for the Nintendo Switch. The console, which was previously under the working title NX, will connect to your TV and have a standard controller but its major defining feature is it’s portability. You can detach the sides of the controller and connect them to the screen to turn it into a gaming tablet. You can also separate those pads with another player for two-player gaming. While this trailer suggests ad-hoc LAN gaming, we will have to look into more details to confirm. We will be diving deeper into details for the Switch soon, but for now, enjoy this trailer of people with extremely luxurious condos enjoy their life of leisure gaming.
