Gaming News Roundup – Dec 19: Overkill’s Walking Dead, Ubisoft Delays, Ghost Recond Predator

Gaming News Roundup – Dec 19

Ghost Recon: Wildlands Adds Predator

An awesome addition to Ghost Recon: Wildlands has just been released, unveiling an iconic target. From now until early January, players can group with friends and attempt to take down Predator. Succeeding will reward you with items like a Predator helmet or his wristblades. While you can’t play as him, this is still a really cool event and the trailer showcases it perfectly, you can watch it here. It’s totally free as well, so give it a shot.

Overkill’s Walking Dead Game

A new take on The Walking Dead is in the works by the studio that created the Payday games. We haven’t seen much of it, but a trailer for it has recently released, introducing us to one of the playable characters, Aidan. The trailer is done very well, giving a great contrast of Aidan’s life before and after the outbreak, with him stressing in his normal life and later attracting walkers to him for some stress relief. While the cinematography and CGI in the trailer is great, I’d love to see the gameplay so I can determine whether or not it’s just another zombie game, but we’ll see. You can check out the trailer here.

Dead Or Alive Series Pronounced Dead

We haven’t seen an entry in the Dead Or Alive series in quite a while, with the last game, Dead Or Alive 5, being released in 2012. With that long a break, one would assume another one would be in the works, but it turns out we may not be seeing another Dead Or Alive possibly ever. At the fighting game event, NEC 2018, Team Ninja announced that support of Dead Or Alive would be coming to an end, with the team working on other projects.

It’s unfortunate to see such a long-running series come to an end, but we’ll still be following whatever Team Ninja does next.

Three Ubisoft Games Delayed

The success of Assassin’s Creed: Origins has apparently inspired Ubisoft to take a little more time to perfect their games, and for that reason, we’ll be waiting a bit longer for a few of them.

  • Far Cry 5 has been pushed from February 27th, 2018 to March 27th, 2018
  • The Crew 2, delayed from March 16th, 2018 to the first half of fiscal 2018-19
  • Unannounced franchise sequel delayed from fiscal 2018-19 to fiscal 2019-20

Better late than never and with how well Assassin’s Creed: Origins has been received, that extra time can really pay off.
