Cinematic Trailer For Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Gaming News Roundup - Aug 28

A good bit of news came out of Gamescom this week. Among the reveals and trailers, we got a new cinematic trailer for the upcoming stealth action game, Assassin’s Creed: Origins, the newest addition to the Assassin’s Creed series. The trailer gives us more information about what’s going to be going on during the game. You can see the cinematic trailer here. They also showed us a good bunch of gameplay, including some cutscenes, you can watch that here.

Dragon Ball Fighter Z Gets A Release Date

In more Gamescom news, highly anticipated fighter, Dragon Ball Fighter Z got its release date, which will be February next year. For those waiting in anticipation, you may still have a chance to get into next month’s closed beta, you can sign up here. If you can’t make it into that beta, fans that pre-order will be getting another closed beta in January. Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta were also revealed.

Shenmue III’s Newest Trailer Is Lowkey Kind Of Ugly

We got more footage of Shenmue 3 than we’ve gotten in the years since its announcement. It’s looking um… yeah. Featured in the trailer are some hideous Barbie doll-looking returning characters, awkward animations, and stiff emotionless faces from all the characters. The faces are kind of creepy. I don’t want to be harsh on it because I loved 1 and 2, but with a Kickstarter of 6 million dollars, partnership with Sony, and just recently a publisher behind it, I was expecting it to look a lot better than this. Hopefully we see improvements in the future, but disappointing isn’t even the word. Watch the trailer here.

Final Fantasy 15 Pocket Edition?

Square had a strange surprise for us a Gamescom this year, unveiling Final Fantasy 15 for PC and also a pocket edition of the RPG. The pocket edition is a retelling of the original game, but with a very cutesy chibi style. It’ll be in an episodic format and it’ll be available on iOS and Android devices. You can see the trailer for it here. The chibi style works for the most part, besides Gladios, because it took me a second to register his face as a face.

Injustice 2’s Next Pack Of Characters Revealed

During Gamescom, NetherRealm took the opportunity to show us who the future additions to Injustice 2 will be. In the upcoming future, we’ll be getting Hellboy, Raiden (not Static Shock and a 2nd MK character? WTF), and Black Manta. Fans had already deducted that Raiden and Black Manta were in by their silhouettes so the real surprise was Hellboy. The first release will be on September 12th for those that have the Ultimate Edition or Fighter Pack 2 and later for individual purchase. It looks like we’ll be getting Black Manta first, I assume Raiden will be next then Hellboy. You can check out the reveal trailer here.

A Look At A New IP, Biomutant

Last week there was a leak for a game called Biomutant, which looked to be an open world game starring a raccoon that did Kung-Fu. It’s being developed by a team of former Just Cause 3 developers, which is quite interesting. In the days since, they’ve given us a trailer and an 11 minute walkthrough, showing us what it’s about and showcasing customization, weapons, combat and much more. The game looks pretty interesting and it should be a hell of an adventure. You can see the trailer here, and if you have more time on your hands, you can see the walkthrough here.

Assassin’s Creed And Final Fantasy 15 Crossover

Well this was unexpected. From August 29th to January 31st, it looks like Final Fantasy 15 player will be getting free access to a new DLC that merges the worlds of Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy. This expansion looks incredible, they definitely went all out on this, adding costumes, parkour, the hidden blade, stealth kills, and new quests. Did I mention this was all free? You can check out the trailer here. Don’t ask if it makes any sense, it’s really cool, so it doesn’t have to.
