Ladies Night Feat. Sammus & Girl Gone Geek (FanBrosShow No. 53)

Ladies Night

That’s right folks it’s Ladies Night here at FanBrosShow as DJ BenHaMeen becomes the only man on the spaceship. Of course Tatiana King is there as the co captain but we also welcome back Girl Gone Geek to the ship and not only that but we also introduce Sammus to the world of the FanBros! Some of you may know the uber talented Sammus from her albums, videos, and general badassery but if not we get the proper rundown of who she is, what caused her to start producing and rhyming, and how does she balance being a true geek girl while still pursuing a PhD. Ladies Night? I wonder should we call it the FanGirls show this time out? Negatory, for as all our long term listeners know FanBros is a gender agnostic term, and even though we are The Voice Of The Urban Geek we welcome people from all races, sexes, creeds, and whatevers, basically if you’re a geek of any kind then the FanBrosShow is for you. Tell a friend to tell a friend and tune in as the better half of the FanBros take over the ship.

I just finished this episode up. First time listening. Great thing you’re doing here and really enjoyed your guests. Not sure if you have a certain place where someone should be commenting and discussing podcasts as you put them out but I did want to talk a bit about all of your characters being caucasion or Asian because that’s what we see the most in the genre. As a mixed kid I had the opposite, possibly because of teasing and the feeling that I wasn’t “black enough” and constantly wanting to be “more black” I continually made my characters and drawings black. I always picked the black character or the closest too. It’s only in the last, maybe, five years that I have started making characters look more like me, which is much lighter and often not really looking black necessarily. I still tend to gravitate towards black characters though. Anyway, two cents left. Great show. Peace.

Thank you so much for the response and for checking us out. Growing up I had all the same issues you mentioned so I’m glad we connected with you on that level. Check out all our episodes, we have had a lot of history in our short time on the air, and thank you again.

  • that’s crazy I thought Sammus was from HUEston because that was when I used to see her. First time I met her was on the set of a group I manage (H.I.S.D. (HUEston Independent Spit District)) video shoot for a song called “Lando”
