Junot Diaz On Why Comics Are So Important & More
Junot Diaz is one of the most important authors today, having already written the instant classics Drown and The Brief Wondorous Life Of Oscar Wao, two books that should be on your reading list if they aren’t already. His latest novel This Is How You Lose Her just arrived in paperback and I attended the book reading in order to convince Junot Diaz that he needed to come on FanBrosShow asap. What I didn’t expect was for two of the questions from the audience to be about comic books, specifically why they were so important to him as a child and what did the manga masterpiece Akira mean to him. I had to get some quick footage of these answers as someone as well spoken as Junot Diaz speaking on the greatness of comics is always worth watching. Hit the jump for both of the videos and make sure you pick up any or all of Junot Diaz’s books, I’ve read Oscar Wao and I’m halfway through Drown and they both get the Benhameen Seal Of Approval. Or something to that extent.
