Gaming News Roundup – Feb 12
New Kingdom Hearts 3 Trailer
The wait continues with Kingdom Hearts III, but just this week, we get another trailer of the highly anticipated action RPG. This trailer reveals to us that one of the new playable worlds in the game will be that of Pixar animated movie, Monsters, Inc. As with a few worlds in the Kingdom Hearts game, Sora, Goofy, and Donald get a redesign to match the world. This one is easily one of the weirdest, especially freakish looking Goofy,
Besides this though, we do get more footage of the Toy Story world and a little peek at the story, with Riku and Mickey Mouse. It’s all a real joy to watch, especially seeing how satisfying the combat looks. You can see for yourself here. Also note, that the release window is still 2018, so we might actually get to see it this year! I have also heard rumors that either we’ll get an actual release date or an actual release at E3, so stay tuned for that.
TMNT In Injustice 2
As reported late last year, the Ninja Turtles are coming to Injustice 2! This week, NetherRealm released a trailer and gameplay showcasing how they’re going to work. As explained in this video, all four turtles are playable as soon as you get them and to choose the one you want to play as, you would pick which weapon you want. Having different turtles isn’t just cosmetic either, they all come with their own voices, movesets, and character power. Fighting with one also allows you to use assists from the other turtles.
It’s a really awesome way to put them in the game and they look like a ton of fun. To see a 15-minute gameplay of them and how they work, you can click here. To see their release trailer, click here. They’ll be available on February 13th for Ultimate Edition or Fighter Pack 3 owners and available to everyone on the 20th.
The Surge 2 Announced
If you enjoy Dark Souls inspired games, but aren’t a big fan of the Dark Souls aesthetic, you may have enjoyed 2017’s The Surge. It went under the radar for a lot of people, but it’s more of a sci-fi and robotic take on the Souls-like subgenre. If you did enjoy it, you may be delighted to hear that a sequel is in the works and scheduled to release in 2019. Details are scarce on it so far, but what we do know is that it will take place in a run-down city instead of a factory setting like the previous game.
That’s the news for this week! Excited to see some new footage of Kingdom Hearts 3? Ready to kick some shell (it actually kind of hurt me to type that) in Injustice 2? Let us know below! In case you missed last week’s roundup, you can click here to get caught up. There was also a commentary this week about how the Switch made up for the Wii U’s failure that you can read here or watch here. As always, be sure to come back next week for another gaming news roundup!
