Cloak and Dagger Official Trailer
The first official trailer for Cloak & Dagger just debuted with a soft focus on the revised background of the heroic duo. “One will live, and one will die,” as the voiceover makes mention of the “Divine Pairing,” a bit of a departure from the comic origin. Tyrone Johnson and Tandy Bowen play teens from different backgrounds, laden with different opportunities as well as unique plights. In a refreshing twist, Tyrone is the one comes from the happy home, while Tandy is the troublemaking ne’er do well, having to steal everything she has. The city of New Orleans is also referenced like a character unto itself à la Gotham City. “New Orleans is a rollercoaster of destruction and rebirth. Fire, famine, disease, war.” New Orleans may need these unlikely couple as much as they need each other.
There are action shots and a power usage aplenty through the trailer. Tyrone’s control over dark energy, and lack thereof along with Tandy’s liberal usage of light daggers are prominent. The villainous Roxxon Corporation logo is shown as well, suggesting the TV show is going to borrow from the Cloak & Dagger of the Marvel Comics’ Ultimate Universe. As his dark energy powers emerge, Tyrone develops a “hunger” for fear, though whether experiencing it or causing it has yet to be seen. Tandy Bowen uses solid light constructs mainly as projectile weapons but is also able to use her abilities to calm the darker urges in others. One major problem is how they manage when making contact leads to such volatile results?
