During Game 4 of the NBA Finals, we all got a taste of the culmination of our comic book dreams–the Black Panther Teaser Trailer. The feeling when I saw Danai Gurira as Okoye stare down a subdued Klaw (Andy Serkis) through a two way mirror then peer over at Black Panther–chills! I was legitimately screaming my head off every time a character appeared on screen–Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Forrest Whitaker as Zuri, and Angela Bassett as Ramonda (I died a thousand deaths when I saw her snow white locs–yes Ramonda has white locs in the books but STORM GOALS!). I melted to the floor watching Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, the impeccably dressed Isaach De Bankolé as the River Tribe Elder, THE DORA MILAJE, and Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Letitia Wright as Shuri–and of course new scenes of Chadwick as Black Panther himself. The vision of afrofuturism and Black pride was magnified a thousand fold through the screen and I was S-H-O-O-K! Then watch it again. We even did a Twitter thread, breaking down the scenes and characters. This coupled with the first teaser poster will surely more to come have us over the moon with excitement.
I say all that to say this– watch the trailer. Ten times over. Then do it again:
